Weezer release single and put an old one on Billboard

Weezer have released their long-awaited single ‘Shine Again’, the first preview of their 16th album, which has not yet been announced, but will presumably be heard this year.

‘Shine Again’ is a song with an inspiring message that promises the listener that the “sun will shine again” within them. Musically, Rivers Cuomo’s group offers a song with influences of power-pop and rock, supported by a harsh electric guitar riff that slides throughout the recording, functioning as a hook, while another guitar sets the rhythm in a syncopated manner.

‘Shine Again’ is the first single from an album produced by two surprising names: Kenneth Blume, formerly known by the alias Kenny Beats, known for his work with Rico Nasty and Vince Staples; and Klas Åhlund, producer of Robyn. It is Weezer’s first single since 2022.

Although during this time Weezer has been more present than you think: its 2014 song ‘Go Away’ has gone viral on TikTok and currently occupies the first place of its most listened to songs on Spotify, ahead of ‘Island in the Sun’.

The streams of the promotional single for ‘Everything Will Be Alright In The End’ are nothing to write home about, but this March the song managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100, at number 90. Weezer had not placed a single on this list since their version of ‘Africa’ by Toto in 2018.
