The San Sebastian band Junkie Horses shows us with images one of the outstanding songs from his debut album, “Overdose”published in September by Subterfuge Records.
An album that has featured collaborations from several members of The Killer Swing: Cristina Martínez Albaro Arizaleta and Raúl Arizaleta. Precisely the latter is the one who contributes his grain of sand in this single “Viuda”, whose video clip we premiere.
The imposing synths that open the song and a chest-pounding rhythmic base lead us towards confessional and torn lyrics. Pedro Gracia P. Viñaspresoul matter of the project. His words slide like a snake through the music, intertwining in an ineffable way. Another of those raw and direct lyrics where it hurts the most, its ambiguity: it can be interpreted that it talks about a society that alienates you and devours you with misanthropy, or perhaps it is about something more concrete, something closer to the heart, or at least what we have left of it. The figure of the mantis as a perfect metaphor for this dystopian autophagy in which we live.
Junkie Horses was created in Donosti by the musician, composer and singer Pedro Gracia Pérez de Viñaspre (Havoc, Nacho Vegas) and the producer Iñaki de Lucas (The Good Life, The Killer Swing, Rafael Berrio) with Ander Vildosola and Jaime Nieto (The Killer Swing, We are Standard). They are electronic pop, soaked in multiple layers and nuances that range from Brian Eno and artists from the late 70’s and early 80’s, who moved between post punk and electronic (Gary Numan, Ultravox, The Human League). Vocally, we hear sounds of Leonard Cohen, REM, the more minimalist The Smashing Pumpkins and the Norwegian group Madrugada. On September 19, his first album was released, “Overdose”.
The first live performances They arrive on December 19 in Donostia-San Sebastian (Tabakalera -Kutxa Fundazioa Kluba – Tickets) and on January 16 in Iruña-Pamplona (Txintxarri – Tickets).
