Sotomontethe classic rock band led by the Biscayan musician Jokin Salaverriapublishes the album on October 21 “Decadence & Renaissance” (now available on Bandcamp).
The theme of “The Nothing” refers to “nothing”, a metaphor used in the fantasy novel “The Neverending Story”. “Nothing” is a destructive force that represents the existential despair of people, who are losing not only their hopes and dreams, but also their meaning in life. However, in the face of decadence, the lyrics predict a very near rebirth of the senses, of authenticity and of the arts, hence the title of the album.
In the recording of the second album of Sotomonte (held in Madrid and Cantabria) have participated, in addition to Jokin Salaverria on vocals, bass and songs, Xabier Badiola and Miguel Moral on guitars and choirs, Alberto Trigueros on keyboards, Unai G. de Kortazar on drums, and Iñigo Bregel who, in addition to producing, has collaborated on the instrumentation. “Decadence & Renaissance”which goes on sale on Monday, October 21 in physical format (CD and Vinyl), can now be listened to and reserved on bandcamp (the only platform where it will be available digitally).
This second album comes three years after the debut album “From Prayer to the Battlefield”with which Jokin Salaverria, bassist in a zillion groups (Rubia, Landslide, Jonny Kaplan & the Lazy Stars, Marrakech Express, Hot Legs…), left his usual occupation to shape his solo project in which he brings together homegrown folk, rock and psychedelia.
