The Bilbao band Sanity presents “Carpe Noctem”, a song included in his seventh album that will be released in autumn.
We present you exclusively “Carpe Noctem”, the first preview of the new album by Sanitywhich will be named “Eternal night”. It has been recorded, mixed and mastered in the Silver Recordingsunder the command of Martin Guevara of the group Capsuleand represents a step forward in the sounds of the Bilbao band’s previous album: space rock, stoner, psychedelia, garage… with a greater presence of synthesizers under layers of their characteristic guitars and evocative lyrics in Spanish. A work that sums up the stylistic opening and evolution of the band during their almost 25-year career, moving during their 9 cuts between ’70s rock, psychedelia, garage, proto-metal, post punk or dark folk.
Sanity They formed from the ashes of another band with the same members in 2000. After recording an unreleased demo as a quintet, they lost their bassist and one of the guitarists moved to bass. In 2003 they recorded their first album (untitled) at Koba studios with Xanpe de Pilt. Thanks to the spread of the internet and the collaboration between labels and distributors, the group began to take its steps outside the local area, which led them to face their second album with more confidence, “The ridiculous mechanics of modern life” in 2006, this time with Javi Letamendia (The Communist Tenant, WAS) behind the controls.
After multiple live performances, Cordura lock themselves away to compose their third album, “The longest fire in the world” In 2009, this time at the Montreal Studios in Navarra, after which they suffered their only line-up change, as Josu, the drummer, had to stop playing due to an injury. In September of that same year they recruited Unai, from Le Noise, Eten, EPS… initially on a temporary basis, although the chemistry was such that he stayed permanently. With the new line-up they faced “Metropolis” In 2012, they gave a new twist to their sound, more forceful and full of riffs, obtaining great recognition in the national press and placing it among the best albums of the year.
In 2015 they returned to the studio to record “The damage has already been done”with a broader production and a more ambitious sound, cosmic themes, approach to psychedelia and other areas more towards space rock. Recorded at BEARD studios and mastered at DOCTOR MASTER by Estanis Elorza. Already in 2019, as a natural evolution of their previous album, they released “Suicide route”where they delve even further into psychedelia and layers of keyboards. Recorded at TÍO PETE by Beard Studio with Jose Lastra as technician.
During his extensive career, Sanity He has had the opportunity to play with bands both local and national (Wet Cactus, Bourbon, The Soulbreaker Company, Adrift, No More Lies, Interlude, Arenna, Cápsula, La Secta, The Wizards…) and international (Against Me!, Ted Leo and the Pharmacist, French Toast…), and they have even performed at festivals such as Resurrection Fest.
