The San Sebastian trio Gray Merino presents us with the third single from their new artistic stage, conceived in the artistic residency that the band carried out in the Worm Sound Studios Rotterdam (Netherlands).
Gray Merino it show us “Origami”created in December 2022 during the artistic residency that the band carried out at the Worm Sound Studios in Rotterdam (Netherlands) by the hand of Musika Bulegoa. This third single from their new stage has been produced by JEWLN, member of the trio, and mixed by Ed Is Dead in the Fashion Beat Team studios in Madrid. About their sound they tell us that “their uptempo beat, which draws from the UK Garage, hides organic sounds recorded and sampled by the band: objects that collide against the table, friends' laughter, noises from Dutch traffic lights and even samples from an artist at the same time. that Merina Gris admires. Sounds to which are added the legendary and unreleased Korg PS-3010 synthesizer, as well as Sara's wandering voice, more relaxed than ever, in a mixture of disappointment, acceptance and relief.”
“Origami” is another piece of the trio's evolution after their acclaimed debut album, “Zerua Orain”published in March 2022 and with production of Ed Is Dead. Thanks to this, the band performed at the Bilbao BBK Live, as well as in countries such as Sweden, Serbia and the Netherlands, collaborated with groups such as La MODA or Delaporte, and published the single 'Nadie Cuando Lloro' with Hofe, which was followed , already in 2024, 'lilili'.
This new release comes prior to their performances at festivals of the likes of Primavera Sound, Mad Cool and the Donostia Jazz Festival (Jazzaldia), and after having performed in various venues in the country with the support of the Artistas En Ruta (AIE) program, as well as in the Sound Isidro festival in Madrid. All this while the band is already working on what will be their next studio album, without having specified more details…
The video clip has been directed by the visual artist based between Bilbao and Madrid Mikel Godoy. His work diversifies between photography, video and sculpture. He has also done various works as an actor, including the feature film “Pieles” by Eduardo Casanova and the video clip “When Me Miras” by C Tangana together with Úrsula Corberó.
