We premiere “MARIACHI”, the new single from the Barcelona artist JonBoya song that attacks the powers that lead neighborhoods of Barcelona, like the Raval, to marginality through their policies.
JonBoy is a young artist from Barcelona who began his career as a teenager. This has allowed him to use various instruments (its base stands on the guitar and drums) and move into different musical scenes. In fact, as a minor, he was part of a punk band, At-Asko, touring around our country and also in Italy. His next steps led him to study bass jazz at ESEM Taller de Músics, although that was one more step that took him to the current moment.
Currently, JonBoy has embarked on a new creative path through an ambitious cycle of ten singles with their own soul, produced by Quim Benavent and Arnau Giordani. In this new project he moves between very diverse genres that he explores, delving into reggae, flamenco, rock or urban music, always from a perspective very similar to the rhythms of rap and hip hop.
His lyrics delve into themes ranging from politics and social criticism to personal experiences, often intertwined with shades of irony. His first single “Mariachi” tells us about the experiences of a young man who frequents the Raval. He explains the things he sees and the atmosphere that is breathed in the neighborhood, added with a criticism of those in power, condemning the marginality of the place and, of course, the boasting and vainglory of the MC. The song seeks to convey the story of the artist himself, in addition to trying to express dissatisfaction with precariousness and crime due to those at the top.
