The new edition of Hiriko Soinuakthe musical contest promoted by the City of Barakaldo, already has finalists. The final will take place on Saturday, September 27, in the San Bizente Park in Barakaldo and, after the concerts, the identity of the 4 winning bands of the seventh edition will be announced, including that of the Euskara category. The winning proposals will act in the Hiriko Soinuak Festival which will take place on October 24 and 25 at the Herriko Plaza de Barakaldo, next to Reincidents, Biznaga, Bala and Sandré.

The main prize candidates are: DEL VALJon García del Val’s personal project based on Arrasate, who has just launched his first LP; ReadPop-rock quartet emerged in 2023 in Orduña and Amurrio with influences ranging from Berri Txarrak to Foo Fighters; and Monday Potsa project with Eneko Peña at the head and components of Etxebarri, Bilbao and Santurtzi, which was recently reactivated in quartet format and with an eclectic musical proposal that sails from Baroque pop to Art Rock.

The aspiring proposals to win the award for Barakaldo’s best artist are: Ardo BeltzaSkate punk trio with influences of bands such as NOFX, Descendants or Frenzal Rhomb; Clara Corral & Cute Canallas, Pop-Rock Project with personal letters; and Nightwaves, classic American rock quintet composed of musicians with a long journey.

Finally, the proposals that will opt for the BBK-August Award will be: Glow wings, Bilbao vocalist and pianist that combines in their genres compositions such as pop, electronics, R&B and rap; Jonsor, progressive rock trio composed by Nahia Ricoy (Sopela), Ainhoa ​​Sagasti and Jon Sortelle (Getxo); And Naz, a Gernika pop-folk trio composed of STISO, Nagore and Irene.

The jury of the contest will be composed of artist Janire López (from the SUA band), Jon Asier Zubelzu (Sound Technician in Gaua Studio) and Iker Barbara (coordinator of the Euskal Herria-La Rioja edition of the Mossonoro specialized media). This seventh edition of Hiriko Soinuak It has had 146 registered musical projects, overcoming its record.
