Viva Belgrado released one of the best albums of 2024 and this year we will be able to listen to its successor. While ‘Cancionero de los cielos’ mixed the screamo and heavy beginnings of the Córdoba group with brighter sounds, ‘While the Guadalquivir flows and flows and flows’ aims to be a “darker and riffier, more concise and less ethereal” project. This will be released on October 23.
The first preview of the project is called ‘Un andalucito más’ and it is the Song of the Day. This fulfills everything that the band describes about what will be their fifth album, which would arrive in “one of the sweetest moments in the history of the band”: a powerful riff that runs through the entire song, furious lyrics anchored in reality and the same ability to merge different fields of rock.
«If you chase me I run like a greyhound or I cross the sea if necessary, I reach the substrate» or «If doubts attack my neck, I go without thinking» are some of the phrases that Cándido Gálvez shoots in the verses. He shouts that “it’s the only way in the end” just before the song’s melodic chorus: “I can’t stop varear, one more Andalusian.”
This first preview will also be track 1 of the album, which will deal with “the weight of the past, the cyclical processes that take us back to the beginning again and again, the celebration of friendship or the duty to offend.”
