Vetusta Morla have published the fourth preview of 'figurantes', which would be their seventh LP, and is dedicated to the city where they were born. 'Oh, Madrid!' comes after 'La Sábana de Mis Fantasmas' and the double single of 'PUENTES' and 'CATEDRALES'.
According to the press release, 'Oh, Madrid!' It is “a song of resistance” and its lyrics talk about “living with something you love but it also hurts you.” The song begins by describing the country's capital as “a branch that has no root” and continues with similar metaphors that put the city between hate and love.
Other verses talk about “a slow game” from which you can't get out and a “damned ivory tower.” Musically, 'Ay, Madrid!' It follows the electronic line that the previous singles have shown, making use of a catchy synthesizer melody.
Vetusta Morla have also been in the news recently for announcing a hiatus from performing until 2026, in principle, to regain strength. However, the group has clarified that the live shows they already had scheduled on their tour between May and September will not undergo any changes.
'figurantes' will be available on May 31 on all platforms, with a cover by the artistic collective Boa Mistura starring photographs of real fans of the band. The different editions of the physical format: digipack, vinyl and Collector's Edition – Vetusta Morla & Boa Mistura will be available on June 21 and can now be reserved.
