Various names will pay artistic tribute to Sergi Cox

Last October he passed away Sergi Cochsknown artistically as Sergi Cox. Now various musicians from the Barcelona scene will pay him a well-deserved and heartfelt tribute.

Musician and above all solidarity activist, Sergi Cox has left a huge gap in part of the Barcelona independent scene since he died in October due to cancer. He leaves behind a first solo album that he published in 2017 through Kasba Music, “Brighter than the sun itself”.

But his name gained special relevance when, during the pandemic, he promoted the platform Food Aid Acts (AAA) to help with food and care for many workers in the cultural sector, more than three thousand five hundred technicians and artists from different disciplines. The initiative warned about the seriousness of precariousness in the sector. He also worked for other foundations and non-profit organizations. Hence, the AAA platform won distinctions such as the 2020 González Sinde Award from the Spanish Film Academy and the Alicia Social Project Award from the Catalan Academy of Music.

But let’s go to the tribute. It will be held this next Sunday, January 18 at Nau Bostik in the Sant Andreu neighborhood during daylight hours (from 12 to 5 p.m.). The entrance fee will be a symbolic contribution of 5 euros to cover expenses. And among the participants we will meet artists from the world of music, circus, magic and even humor. Names like those of are confirmed Scaramush, Samsarathe members of his band (COX), Wagner Pa, Martí Showarma, Martin Fuks, Soma Raza, The Pinker Tones, Andreu Mateu, Djatodocolor, Pablo Calypso, Lily Colombia and Cuco.
