Ultralight can succeed like Arde Bogotá, Izal, Viva Sweden…

Ultraligera is a pop-rock band from Madrid that has everything to become a favorite at upcoming festivals. Their sound is related to that of Arde Bogotá, Izal, Viva Sweden or Shinova, with whom they have collaborated; The vocalist Gisme sings with that affected tone that characterizes the singers of the aforementioned bands and, above all, the group arrives with a portfolio of very accurate songs that are already conquering the public: Ultraligera already hangs “everything sold out” signs in Madrid, Alicante, Zaragoza -both dates- and León.

Of course, the “system” has not been slow to take notice of Ultraligera and the band’s first album, ‘Pelo de foca’, will be released through Warner Music.

What does the Ultralight repertoire offer? A good dose of indie-influenced melodies and guitars and also a handful of songs that emit a palpable personality. In addition to Gisme, Coque Fernández (guitar), Santi Urruela (bass) and Martín Aparicio (drums) seem to be students of the sound of Arctic Monkeys, The Killers or Interpol and integrate it into their imagery, raising the drama of the melodies.

Thus, their most listened to songs, such as ‘Europa’ or ‘Matanza en el hotel’, seem designed to succeed at festivals, while the walls of guitars in ‘Tú no lo ves’ or ‘Silla de wicker’ allow themselves to be influenced by the codes of nineties alternative rock. Gisme, who sings with a style similar to that of Mikel Izal and therefore that of Enrique Bunbury, sings about various loves and his own role as a rockstar who walks around “with his jacket askew” and a glass of “whiskey” in his hand.

Among the singles taken from ‘Pelo de foca’ has just been added what can now be considered Ultraligera’s ballad. In ‘Never Nobody’, Ultraligera offers acoustic guitars, violins and a melody written to strike a chord. In ‘Nobody ever’, on the other hand, Gisme shows off his voice as he assumes the role of a “wolf” who travels through the “cold steppe.” Ultraligera claims that ‘Nobody’ is their “best song” and, probably, that’s the case.
