U2 share their version of “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah”, one of the versions of the monumental tribute to Shane MacGowanwho was a singer of The Pogues and one of Ireland’s most admired artists.
On November 13th it will be published through Rubyworks “20th Century Paddy. The Songs of Shane MacGowan”a surprising tribute to what has been one of the biggest and most beloved names in Irish music since the 1980s. And the Irish U2 are also one of the protagonists, sharing their version of the song “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah”, original from 1988.

Just as MacGowan would have liked, at least fifty percent of the artists’ royalties will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community, a foundation that helps the homeless in the city of Dublin. And what will we find in “20th Century Paddy. The Songs of Shane MacGowan” apart from the U2 version? Well, nothing less than three vinyl or two compact discs that will include up to thirty-six versions starring artists of the caliber of Bruce Springsteen, Dropkick Murphysthe recently disappeared Glen Hansard, Johnny Depp & Imelda May, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Steve Earle, The Murder Capital, Primal Scream, Tom Waits or The Libertinesamong others. A special edition will include a sixty-page book with previously unpublished images, memorabilia and texts in memory of MacGowan.
