U2 have been busy recently releasing songs as part of their EP’s, but at the moment the release of a new album had not been confirmed. Now Universal announces that U2’s first album in 9 years will arrive “at the end of 2026” and that the first preview is this ‘Street of Dreams’ that has just been released.
The video clip for “Street of Dreams” was filmed last May in Mexico City, coinciding with the band’s presence at the final of the Street Child World Cup 2026, held at the Lago de Texcoco Ecological Park. The recording, made in the vicinity of the Plaza de Santo Domingo, brought together hundreds of followers despite the bad weather.
The press release states that “a storm with rain and thunder caused one of the filming generators to break down and a family in the area opened the doors of their house to Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. so they could continue filming from the balcony of their apartment.”
All this explains why the title of the song is pronounced several times in Spanish, “The street of dreams.” Surely there are those who connect it with the iconic “one, two, three, fourteen” from ‘Vertigo’.
The song was produced by Jacknife Lee and refers to U2’s first albums, from the 80s.
