Two arrested for plotting an attack on the Gaga show in Brazil

Two individuals have been arrested for planning an attack during Lady Gaga’s concert in Copacabana, which was attended by more than 2 million people. The Brazilian police claim to have frustrated the attack, which was going to be produced “with improvised explosives and Molotov bombs.”

One of the suspects has been arrested in the state of Rio Grande del Sur for illegal possession of a firearm, while more than a dozen search and seizure orders have been executed in up to 4 states of the country. Some of the investigated are minor and one of them is also being investigated for child pornography, as Reuters reports.

The police operation has been called Operation “Fake Monster” in relation to the name that Lady Gaga fans (“Little Monsters”) and part of a track of the Intelligence Service of the State Police of Rio de Janeiro, which had identified an online group that prompted violence between adolescents, through the use of coded language and extremist symbolism.

The Brazilian Ministry of Justice has identified the greatest of men involved as belonging to a homophobic and anti-LGTBIQ+. For their part, the police indicate that he did not inform the organizers of the event to “avoid panic and information distortion situations.”

In fact, Lady Gaga’s team has indicated that he has learned about the bomb threat through the media, as Hollywood Reporter reports: «Before and during the show, there was no threat to known security, any communication or communication of the police or of the authorities towards Lady Gaga about any potential risk. His team worked hand in hand with the security forces for the execution of the concert and all the parties trusted the security measures deployed in the place ».
