Two individuals have been arrested for planning an attack during Lady Gaga’s concert in Copacabana, which was attended by more than 2 million people. The Brazilian police claim to have frustrated the attack, which was going to be produced “with improvised explosives and Molotov bombs.”
One of the suspects has been arrested in the state of Rio Grande del Sur for illegal possession of a firearm, while more than a dozen search and seizure orders have been executed in up to 4 states of the country. Some of the investigated are minor and one of them is also being investigated for child pornography, as Reuters reports.
The police operation has been called Operation “Fake Monster” in relation to the name that Lady Gaga fans (“Little Monsters”) and part of a track of the Intelligence Service of the State Police of Rio de Janeiro, which had identified an online group that prompted violence between adolescents, through the use of coded language and extremist symbolism.
