Tulsa, awarded the National Current Music Award

Look Izabetter known artistically as Tulsahas been awarded the National Prize for Current Music that grants the Ministry of Culture.

Let us remember that the National Prize for Current Music has previously been won by artists such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Silvia Pérez Cruz or Rodrigo Cuevas. In this way we will better understand the artistic value of this award granted by the Ministry of Culture after the result of a vote by a jury.

In this case, this jury has decided by majority to award the prize to Tulsa for its album “Amadora” and for its stage adaptation. That is, it also adds to the 2024 National Prize for Dramatic Literature awarded to Maria Velascothe playwright with whom Tulsa has brought the stage version of “Amadora”.

Tulsa is Look Iza (Donosti, 1979), Basque composer and singer who began her career in music in the late nineties singing in English with the female punk pop band Electrobikinis. After their separation in 2002, she began to write songs in Spanish and in 2007, the year in which she was nominated for the Latin Grammy for New Artist, she presented the first of the seven albums she would release under the stage name Tulsa, “You’ve only touched me”. From there come jobs like “Wait the pale one”, “The chicha calm”, “Centauros” or “Amadora”.
