Travis Scott’s historic hit on Billboard

Travis Scott stars in the biggest historical drop on Billboard since number 1. ‘Days Before Rodeo’, his 2014 mixtape, initially published on Soundcloud, and officially released this August, is the first album in Billboard history to fall from 1 off the list.

‘Days Before Rodeo”s run on the US album chart has been unusual. After its re-release on August 18, the album opened at number 2, blocked by Sabrina Carpenter, thanks to the sales of its different digital editions and its streaming views. It totaled 361,000 equivalent units, of which 331,000 belong to pure sales.

Next, ‘Days Before Rodeo’ fell to 30 and then to 106 and, after the distribution of the vinyls, sold exclusively on Travis Scott’s website, it rose from 106 to 1. This rise is one of the biggest in history, but then came the fall.

Travis Scott has sold 149,000 vinyls of ‘Days Before Rodeo’, which has led to its direct rise to number 1, a month after its re-release. Once these copies have been shipped and Billboard has counted them, the album has plummeted. ‘Days Before Rodeo’ is the best-selling rap vinyl, but also the only album to have fallen from 1 outside of Billboard. It is the biggest fall, but not the only one, as Bon Jovi, Céline Dion or Madonna know.

These are the 10 albums that have hit the hardest on Billboard, also including works by the Killers or LCD Soundsystem, or by an artist as young as Tyler, the Creator:

1.- ‘Days Before Rodeo’ by Travis Scott, from 1 out (2024)
2.- ‘This House is Not For Sale’ by Bon Jovi, from 1 to 169 (2018)
3.- ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ by Tyler, the Creator, from 1 to 139 (2022)
4.- ‘Courage’ by Céline Dion, from 1 to 111 (2019)
5.- ‘Science Fiction’ by Brand New, from 1 to 97 (2017)
6.- ‘Iridescence’ by BROCKHAMPTON, from 1 to 88 (2018)
7.- ‘Madame X’ by Madonna, from 1 to 77 (2019)
8.- ‘Boarding House Reach’ by Jack White, from 1 to 62 (2018)
9.- ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ by the Killers, from 1 to 59 (2017)
10.- ‘American Dream’ by LCD Soundsystem, from 1 to 56 (2017)

The immediate success of ‘Days Before Rodeo’ demonstrates the enormous power of Travis Scott fans, who have not hesitated to buy en masse an album that is 10 years old, and whose interest is very limited for the general public. In any case, it’s not bad that an album that has just been officially released after a decade, already has half a million copies sold.
