Tomas Lindberg dies (At The Gates) at fifty -two years

David Isberg (Opeth) has announced the news of the death of Tomas “Tompa” Lindbergsinger of At The Gatesat the age of fifty -two.

A few months ago it was already announced that Lindberg suffered a type of cancer, the adenoid carcinoma, which affects the minor salivary glands with a head and neck. Lindberg was part of At The Gates until his separation in 1995 and was again in the band when they returned in 2007, until his last studio album “The Nightmare of Being” (21). The disease was diagnosed in 2023.

A few months ago the band reported that the singer suffered that type of cancer and that it had to be operated first and subsequently receive radiotherapy to which, presumably, it did not respond as expected. In May he entered a hospital where he was until the moment of his death.

In addition to being part of At The Gates, Lindberg also militated in formations such as Grotesque, disfeating either Lock upin which he has shared prominence with musicians from other emblematic formations of the world of European metal.
