The Weeknd donates $2.5 million in food to Gaza

The Weeknd has donated $2.5 million in food to Gaza through his humanitarian foundation, XO Humanitarian Fund. The donation is equivalent to 820 tons of food packages that are expected to feed for two weeks more than 173,000 Palestinians who are facing food shortages and famine due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) announced the news in the last few hours.

Numerous artists have called for a ceasefire since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7. In a letter addressed to Joe Biden, musicians such as Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek and Michael Stipe have demanded an end to the conflict. Kali Uchis, Lucy Dacus, Zack de la Rocha, Pulp and Brian Eno have signed another letter published in recent days.

After a truce that lasted a few days, Israel has resumed its bombardment of Gaza. According to information published in Time, it is estimated that around 1,400 Israelis and 7,000 Palestinians have died during the confrontation between Israel and Hamas.
