Billboard continues with the publication of the greatest of the century so far, taking advantage of the fact that the first 25 years of it have already passed. The latest is a list of the most popular albums on the Billboard 200 and the most popular songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
The most popular album of the century is ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’ by Morgan Wallen above Adele’s own ’21’. Another album by Morgan Wallen appears in the top 10, as well as two albums by Taylor Swift – the latter places all her albums on the list – and the first by Lady Gaga.
Billie Eilish places her first album at 17, Olivia Rodrigo at 20 and SZA places ‘SOS’ at 26. Linkin Park and Imagine Dragons are some of the groups that appear in that area of the chart. Bad Bunny’s ‘A Summer Without You’ is the great Latin triumph at number 32. The British Amy Winehouse and Dua Lipa have narrowly slipped into the top 100: ‘Back to Black’ is at number 91 and Dua Lipa is at number 32. 98.

In songs there is a much greater harmony between what has happened globally and the United States. ‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weeknd is number 1 of the century, followed by ‘Uptown Funk! by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. Dua Lipa and Mariah Carey are the only women who manage to appear in the top 10. To the joy of the Pet Shop Boys, Taylor Swift does not appear until number 65 in singles and that is also with ‘Shake It Off’. The artist also places ‘Cruel Summer’ at 74.
