A few weeks ago, Queens of the Stone Age surprised us with a song different from the “stoner rock” with which we usually identify them. Now we know that that half-country ‘Easy Street’ will be track 7 of the new album that Josh Homme’s band will release on October 30. The new album will be called ‘Perfecth’ and from today you can also hear a second single titled ‘Insignificant Other’.
The title of the album, misspelled on purpose, is intended to reflect precisely that “nothing in this world is perfect.” The announcement of the album is accompanied by a humorous promotional video, directed by Chapman Baehler and starring Big Chongus in which they reflect on “perfect”.
With nods to horror films, and even gore, it seems that the line between the “perfect” and the “grotesque” is very fine. What is certain is that they are going to get the title of the album burned into your mind. As a marketing campaign, it is quite original at this point in his career.
Regarding the new single, loaded with Wurlitzer-type keyboards, they indicate that it is “a song about distance, about how a person can mean the whole world to you and then simply fade away.” And about the strange vertigo that comes with being on the side of someone who suffers from it. It was recorded in just 2 takes and, once again, shows a more relaxed QOTSA.
The tracklist reveals that there will be 9 songs in total and none will be the title track:
