In the 39th edition of Los Goya, the Best Film Award has been, for the first time in its history, former Aequo: both the ’47’ team and that of ‘La Infiltrada’ have taken the cat to the water. In my opinion, ’47’ is one of the best Spanish films of this year and just worthy of the award; ‘La Infiltrada’, not so much. But it does not mean that the last of Arantxa Echevarría, about the real history of a police infiltrated in ETA, is exempt from merits.
Of course, ‘La Infiltrada’ has been a blockbuster as few: only surpassed for the delivery of this year of ‘Father there is nothing more than one’, its more than 8 million collection make it the most grossing Spanish film in history directed by a woman. And also being a thriller, who in the national is not always a genre as grateful as the “white” comedy can be.
One of the reasons for this success is in its director: Echevarría is a cream currant ‘). The connection with the public has always been in mind, but this tape is clearly confirmation.
Because ‘the infiltrated’ is not ashamed at any time of its commercial intention, and that does not affect its impeccable technical invoice, or the interpretations of the always great Carolina Yuste (probably one of the most natural actresses in our country) and Luis and Luis and Luis Tosar Especially highlights the management by Arantxa of a tension that never disappears, especially from the appearance of a certain character.
On the other hand, a more risky formal proposal is missed, some climax moments are half a gas, and, above all, its construction leaves the feeling that it could have been much more interesting. All this without entering into the manichaeus aspect of history (how the daily life of one and the other is portrayed or even sexual violence in each other), which would have thanked a more sharp approach dealing with the theme that deals with.
In short, although ‘the infiltrated’ leaves the feeling that it could have been much better, its virtues are also undeniable. And it is clear that the public, who has been in mass to see it, has seen them very well.
