Following their debut album in 2022, The Smile is ready to write a new chapter with ‘Wall of Eyes’. The album that follows his previous ‘A Light For Attract Attention’ will be released on January 26 of next year and will be made up of 8 songs.
‘Wall of Eyes’ was recorded between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios. Additionally, it has been produced and mixed by his previous collaborator Sam Petts-Davies and features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra.
The group has taken advantage of the announcement to release ‘Wall of Eyes’, the song that opens and gives the title to the album and, although it is already the second preview that we heard (since the seventh track, ‘Bending Hectic’, came out in June) , serves as a letter of introduction to the group’s new project.
In the song, The Smile once again opts for a calm instrumental that tries to emphasize the production, although this time without leading to the disturbing sounds that ended ‘Bending Hectic’. Both, however, have a long duration in common: ‘Wall of Eyes’ reaches five minutes, while ‘Bending Hectic’ reaches eight.
The group has also shared, along with the release of the new song, its video clip, which was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Likewise, he has revealed that he is preparing a European tour for March 2024, with dates in the United Kingdom that include London, Manchester and Glasgow.
