The sixth edition of VillaSoundBilbao begins

Bands and soloists from Euskadi and Nafarroa have until February 17 to register for the program VillaSoundBilbaoorganized by the Bilbao City Council.

The registration period for the VI Edition of VillaSoundBilbao (VSB), an initiative of the Bilbao City Council that aims to promote, facilitate and accompany emerging young groups and soloists (16-35 years old) from the musical scene of Euskadi and Navarra. Interested artists have until February 17 to formalize their request through the council’s website.

In the first phase (VSB Fest)a professional jury will select from those who register a total of 12 bands or soloists who will perform at Bilborock, which, as a novelty in this edition, will take place during two consecutive weekends in April, specifically the days April 17, 18, 24 and 25. Each of these days (Friday or Saturday) 3 of the selected bands/soloists will perform. These concerts will be free and open until capacity is reached.

In the second phase (VSB MENTORING)6 of the 12 bands/soloists will be selected to, on the one hand, participate in a personalized mentoring program and, on the other, participate in a study session. This program will be adapted to the needs of the selected groups or soloists, through accompaniment and training, which will be taught by professionals of recognized prestige and includes different topics such as communication and P&R, musical production, intellectual property and rights management and booking, concerts and tours, as well as relations with the promoting companies.

And in the third phase (VSB TOUR)one of the 6 bands will be selected for a tour of 3 paid concerts within the Son Estrella Galicia concert cycle. This announcement will be made during a free event to be held on Saturday May 2 in Bilborockwith the participation of a renowned band integrated into said cycle. The rest of the groups/soloists selected by the jury for the following performances will also be announced: Musika Bulegoa concerta paid concert at a Musika Bulegoa partner concert hall; the Aste Nagusia concerta performance in Aste Nagusia within the stage dedicated to Local Rock only for groups from Bizkaia; a concert at BIMEa performance at the next edition of the BIME LIVE concerts; a concert at an urban music event organized by Fundación SGAE; as well as the recording a video clip in the Bilborock rehearsal rooms as part of its “Lokal Sessions” program.

In the fifth edition last year, 123 groups and soloists registered. Of the 12 selected, 8 were bands from Bizkaia, 3 from Nafarroa and 1 from Gipuzkoa: Marmitako Trap Banda, Reeler, Goodbye Keppler, Antimeta, Mexin, Garraio, Aizoo and Alen Malva (Bizkaia); Maddi, Kbless and Hartzak Zeruan (Nafarroa); and (H)ondora (Gipuzkoa). After the 4 concerts that were held in Bilborock, 6 of the 12 were selected for the personalized mentoring phase: Marmitako Trap Banda, Reeler, Mexin, Maddi, Kbless and (H)ondora. Finally, it was Marmitako Trap Band (Bizkaia) the one selected to carry out the VSB Tour with Son Estrella Galicia.
