RTVE has announced the renewal of La Revuelta for two more seasons, so La 1 will continue to broadcast the program until 2028, in the same time slot in which it competes with El Hormiguero. David Broncano has signed a new contract that contemplates the recording of a total of 320 programs and an increase in the production cost of 31 million euros.
The news, published exclusively by El Confidencial, is surprising because La Revuelta is not going through its best moment of popularity, since in recent months it has recorded audience data even below the average for La 1, although always higher than what other programs obtained in that same time slot, according to The Huffington Post.
A clause in the La Revuelta contract established that RTVE could withdraw the program if it did not achieve an average of 7.5% audience share for four consecutive months. However, with this decision RTVE seems to be evaluating other factors, such as La Revuelta’s ability to remain in the social conversation, generate debate on networks and produce viral moments and memes; elements that have contributed to renewing its image, connecting with young audiences and building a contemporary identity in the public channel. Recently, Leiva performed on the show and showed off a “Fuck Trump” sticker attached to his guitar.
