The Police demands Sting for millions of pounds in royalties

After years of legal battles, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland would finally have sued Sting, accusing him of duty millions of pounds in “lost royalties.” According to The Sun, the members of The Police consider that they have not received financial compensation at the height of their contributions to the band.

As indicated by the British tabloid, the lawyers of both parties would have tried, “repeatedly”, reach an “extrajudicial agreement.” However, it has not been materialized. Summers and Copeland defend that, although the vocalist appears as the author of his greatest successes, his contribution to these songs must be recognized.

Through his representation team, Sting has denied that the demand has something to do with the song ‘Every Breath You Take’. It is estimated that the British artist, the only composer of the piece, enters around 635,000 euros per year in copyright only for this subject.
