The singer Ed Sheeran performed “Million Miles Away” with the American punk rock band The Offspring. “I've fulfilled a childhood dream,” explains Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance during the concert The Offspring in BottleRock Napa Valley 2024. The singer-songwriter joined the band on stage to sing and play electric guitar during the song “Million Miles Away” from their 2000 album “Conspiracy Of One”. It was the song's first live performance since 2016. By introducing Ed Sheeran, Singer Dexter Holland told the audience: “Ed told us that one of our recordings was the first CD he ever bought as a kid. It meant a lot to us, so we thought we'd love for him to join the band on stage. Let's play a song that he wanted to perform.
Sheeran posted a video of himself rehearsing backstage with Holland and company and performing with them live on BottleRock Napa Valley in California. He is also seen showing the group his Offspring tattoo. In the description, Ed writes: “The first album I bought was @offspring – 'Conspiracy Of One'. I used to imagine that I was just another member of the band while I looked in the mirror and sang the songs from the album when I was nine years old, especially their song 'Million Miles Away' which was the first song I heard from the group. I mentioned it in an interview and Noodles/Dexter contacted me when they found out we were going to play at the same festival, to ask me to sing with them. I said yes, obviously. I feel like I have made my childhood dream come true, thank you for letting me play with you. Music is a wild ride, every day I am grateful to be living my dream. I hope you enjoy the video.”
