The new thing from TOLEDO is ‘Lindo Lindo’

TOLEDO is a group not from Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha, nor from Toledo, Ohio, but from Brooklyn, New York. The duo formed by Daniel Alvarez and Jordan Dunn-Pilz has made itself known by pampering a dreamy indie-pop sound that has not given up flirting with other sounds, both folk and electronic.

In 2022, TOLEDO released their debut album, ‘How it Ends’, then the album was reissued and, these days, the group is releasing new music. ‘Jesus Bathroom’, the first single of TOLEDO’s new era, arrived in November, and the second can be heard for a few days.

Where in ‘Jesus Bathroom’ the synthesizers were noticeable, in ‘Lindo Lindo’ a luminous indie-pop atmosphere reigns, as charming as its title promises. A trip to Barcelona, a city that appears mentioned in the lyrics, seems to have inspired this song written in Spanglish, in which the verses are sung in English, and the chorus in Spanish.

The Spanish of ‘Lindo Lindo’ does not deserve to be underlined, as does the pleasure with which TOLEDO sings the song and, above all, the rich musicality of the recording, where drums, guitars and synthesizers converge in perfect harmony.

And, to top it off, ‘Lindo Lindo’ manages to be even more adorable by concluding with a last chorus in which a children’s choir joins in.
