The New Pornographers drummer, arrested for possession of child pornography

The Canadian indie-rock band The New Pornographers has communicated the dismissal of its drums, Joe Seiders, after the 44-year-old musician has been arrested for possession of child pornography. The group is “absolutely horrified and devastated” by the news and sympathizes with the victims.

Seiders has been arrested after two incidents that occurred in the public bathrooms of a restaurant chain in Palm Desert, California. The first took place on April 7, when an 11 -year -old denounced that a man had recorded him with a mobile phone while using the bathroom. The second incident occurred on April 9, when a restaurant employee alerted the authorities after observing a man entering and leaving the bathroom in the company of several minors.

After the arrest of Seiders, the authorities have investigated their home, vehicle and telephone and have found evidence that involves Seiders in the incidents that occurred in the restaurant’s bathroom and other crimes, including possession of child pornography. He is currently being held in jail with a bond set at a million dollars and must appear before justice on Tuesday.

Seiders joined the formation of The New Pornographers in 2014. Then, the group, formed in 1997, had already been career for 17 years.
