The New Pornographers have revealed the release date of their next album, which will be titled “The Former Site Of”.
Almost a year after the publication of their last single “Ballad Of The Last Payphone”, The New Pornographers have announced what will be their tenth studio album to date. “The Former Site Of”will be published on March 27 in Merge Records. It will happen just a few weeks before his tour begins. USA he April 22 in The Wilbur of Boston. To celebrate the announcement, the band has released “Votive”, the second preview of the album, along with a new video clip.
Built around the sound of the leader’s mandolin AC Newman“Votive” starts with an atmospheric opening of synthesizers and keyboards to lead into a wide and open jam. The video, animated by Michael Arthuris inspired by the images of the lyrics of Newman along with the catchy chorus that he performs with the keyboardist and vocalist Kathryn Calder.
In “The Former Site Of” Ten short stories of people are gathered together, captured as meticulously crafted pop songs. About the creation of the album, Newman shared: “I don’t like wasting my bandmates’ time, and I always felt guilty when I gave them a song. I’d ask them to do something and then change it completely.
