The new edition Lev Festival arrives in May

He Visual Electronics Laboratory (Lev) will celebrate its 19th edition from May 1 to 4, 2025 in Gijónconsolidating as a reference in the exploration of electronic sound creation, audiovisual creation and contemporary digital art.

With the support of the City of Gijón and the Principality of Asturias, the Festival will offer a diverse program in several venues in the city, including in Labor Theater, the Working Center of Art, the Muséu del Pueblu d’Astúries and the Atlantic Botanical Garden.

On May 2 and 3, the festival converts the Work theater In one of its main headquarters, with a great program that brings together prominent artists in the world of visual electronics and sound experimentation. Among the prominent artists, we find the Japanese composer Ryoji Ikedawho will present “Ultratonics”, a fusion of sound and light with great mathematical precision. The Ukrainian artist Katarina Gryvulnext to Alex Guervarawill premiere in Spain “Spomyn”, a multidisciplinary performance about the fragility of memory. Amelie Duchow It will present “Mater Logos”, a composition in a constant evolution based on contributions collected from around the world. The “animal” work of Ash Furean artistic production that mixes performance and sound sculpture created with the architect Xavi Aguirre. Yesssi Perse It will present the world premiere “Fairytals of Eternal Economic Growth”, an audiovisual and sound proposal that explores the impact of the digital economy on society. This proposal deepens issues such as technofeudalism, data extraction and digital servitude. Another of the outstanding artists is Colin Selfwho returns to the festival to present the second opera of its Self’s Shadow series entitled “Gasp!”, A work that explores the queer spiritual and ancestral guidance thus combining song and movement. Pinch & Lorem They will present “A Red Rabbit”, an audiovisual trip that immerses the public in a narrative of mystery and tension, challenging the limits of reality and imagination.

The night program of Saturday, May 3 will be in the Working Centro de Arte. Babii It presents “Daredevil 2000”, inspired by Dante’s hell, reflecting on transgression and morality. Freeka Tet and Amnesia Scanner They exhibit “Hoax”, a criticism of Internet culture. Iglooghost It arrives with “Tidal Memory Exo”, an audiovisual trip based on fictional mythologies. Mun sing will offer an intense live with Folic, while Cortical It debuts with “Wretched Patterns and Terrible Mistakes”, imagining a dystopian future dominated by Ia. The Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies It will be one of the key headquarters of the Lev Festival on Saturday, May 3, with a program that fuses audiovisual experimentation and personal genealogies. Lilac throwing violet presents your new album in first, Kabeoushé It contributes its Rave energy, and Jaime Jaime It premieres “Hyperdrive”, a mixture of electro, Jungle and Uk Garage.

The festival will close on Sunday, May 4 with two outdoor performances in the Boreal Laguna of the Atlantic Botanical Garden. Mizu It will present a live show where it fuses cello, electronic manipulation and body expression, touring its three works to date. For its part, Dylan Hennerkey figure of ambient-experience music, will offer an introspective sound experience that combines synthesized voices, field recordings and synthesizers. Lev Festival presents two immersive facilities in collaboration with the Old Institute Culture Center and the Collegiate Palacio Revillagigedo.

From April 1 to May 18, the public may experience in the Ancient Culture Center Institute Video Installation of Robbie Cooperthat captures human expressions while interacting with digital means. His work explores identity in the technological era, showing in the foreground spontaneous reactions to video games, social networks and other visual stimuli. In the Collegiate Palacio Revillagigedothe Taiwanese artist Ivan Liu It presents “Echoes of the Land”, an interactive installation that transforms human action into a physical and sound experience. Using granular motion and synthesis sensors, the work simulates earthquakes in response to the interaction of the public.
