The modest (and soft) return of Maroon 5

Among the more or less unexpected 2025 comebacks, we must also tell Maroon 5, who have already published three singles of what will be his next job, ‘Love is like’, the first from ‘Jordi’ (2023). However, the public does not seem to be receiving the new Maroon 5 material with too much enthusiasm. At least, for now.

‘Priceless’, the first advance ‘Love is like’, has launched into a global market with the collaboration of the Lisa Thai, a member of Blackpink. The issue has entered dignity into several markets, mainly from Asia and Latin America. In fact, countries like Thailand or Japan are among those who have supported it most. However, the performance of ‘Priceless’ in the United States (76) and the United Kingdom (69) has been very modest. ‘Priceless’ has worked well as debut, but the enormous success of ‘Memories’ (2019) is very far away.

Without the help of an icon of the K-Pop, Maroon 5 is costing more to lift the second single of ‘Love is like’, ‘All night’, which only one month after its edition is only the 136th most reproduced song in Maroon 5 on the Swedish platform. ‘All Night’ has scored a Top 75 in Croatia, but has not broken into any relevant list nor has it entered into radio.

It is too early to guess the commercial performance of ‘California’, the third advance of ‘Love is like’, but its low streams do not predict a future too promising. Its acoustic ballad style seems to be connecting less than the pop funky pop of the two previous singles. It is logical, but ‘memories’ was an acoustic ballad and its success was huge.

A Pop Funky, that of ‘All Night’ and ‘Priceless’, which does not propose anything too novel at the musical level. It is not that the public expects experimentation from Adam Levine and company, but the sound of ‘All Night’ and ‘Priceless’ is even softer than Maroon is often expected 5. Neither of the two compositions stands out in the market.

Or Adam Levine’s marital scandal of 2022 may have affected the perception of Maroon 5 and, therefore, its commercial power in the music industry. It is already known that the image in pop is absolutely everything, and if not, they tell Shawn Mendes or Lizzo …
