Zara Larsson explains why she says "I love criminals"

The long beef between Zara Larsson and Chris Brown continues

Chris Brown is clearly hurt by the terrible review his latest album, ‘BROWN’, received on Pitchfork, described as “a good piece of shit.” This has caused the singer to upload a Story to his Instagram account in which, in addition to strengthening his fans, he also revives the beef with Zara Larsson that has been active since 2016.

The virality of the Pitchfork review has caused Chris Brown to upload a desperate video to social media in which he claims to know exactly “who my fans are and who is listening to this album”: “If you’re not my fan, I don’t want you to be listening to my shit,” says Brown. Finally, the singer can’t help but make a textbook nameropping: “Go listen to fucking Zara Larsson or something.”

When the beef between Chris Brown and Zara Larsson began in 2016, the Swedish artist was beginning to stand out in the world of pop thanks to the release of ‘Lush Life’, but she was clear about her values. She was the one who started it all by calling Brown “trash” on what was previously known as Twitter, saying that she didn’t understand how someone with her history of abuse could have fans.

Brown interacted with the artist for the first time after she participated in a game called ‘Song Tinder’ that same year during an interview in Germany. When he played a Kid Ink song that Brown collaborated on, Larsson didn’t hesitate to swipe left: “I don’t like him. “He can dance and sing very well, but he is not a good person,” he commented.

Chris Brown, then, thought that the best way to respond to Zara Larsson’s words was to leave two comments on a post by a fan of the singer on Instagram: “She’s TERRIBLE!” wrote the singer. However, her second response is the one that went down in history, with Chris Brown calling the artist a “stinking ass.” As if this were not humiliating enough for the singer, Larsson dedicated some Snapchat stories to him in which he carefully explained his point of view.

«I know he is much bigger than me and that he is much more successful than me but that doesn’t mean he can say those things. So whenever you see something you don’t believe in, like homophobic, sexist, or racist comments, it doesn’t matter if they’re famous or not: call them out on it. “I’d rather be a stinking ass than a sexist, homophobic, transphobic asshole,” Larsson declared.

10 years later, Zara Larsson is one of the most successful artists in the pop world, while Chris Brown is in the doldrums. Last February, the Swedish artist did not miss the opportunity to dedicate another comment to Brown during a Cosmopolitan interview, now between equals. When asked about the artists who would never appear on her playlist, Larsson explained that she has many artists blocked on Spotify, “most of them for being abusers”: “You certainly won’t find any Chris Brown songs,” she concluded.
