“The God Of Lying” represents the third preview of the next album by Gorillaz. “The Mountain” will be officially published in March 2026
Gorillaz has shared his new and reflective single “The God Of Lying”, featuring the vocalist of IDLES, Joe Talbot. The song is a “haunting, psychedelic reggae” track. Like the rest of the album’s previews, “The God Of Lying” shows Gorillaz exploring themes such as grief, political division and the broader meaning of life. Recorded in London, Devon and Mumbai, the new track sees Damon Albarn and company joining IDLESin addition to having Ajay Prasanna on the bansuri (Indian flute) and Viraj Acharya in percussion.
As for the lyrics, Talbot poses a series of questions in the verses, related to social and political tension: “Are you deafened by the headlines?/ Or does your head not hear at all?,” Then, in the chorus, Albarn seems to respond: “Oh don’t you say that you think I’m in glory…/ Running to the exit with a huge grin on my face/ Screaming hope is behind and I wanna get high.”
