The legendary band Phlegm At the end of the month, he embarks on a tour of five European countries, with a special presence in the peninsula with seven concerts.
Phlegm He visits us starting at the end of May as part of a European tour made up of a dozen concerts, seven of them in cities like Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Malaga or Valencia. The legendary Argentine punk band founded in 1986, returns to Europe after more than 20 years without doing so, to present their latest work “Out of control” (2024), and celebrate three decades since the release of “I will never be a police officer”, one of the rawest and most representative songs of Argentine punk rock, which precisely gives its name to the tour: “I will never be a police officer for 30 years”.
In the case of the concert of June 5 at the Stage Live room in Bilbaothe great party will be completed with performances by the legendary Argentine band Double Strengththe Bilbao band blackskull and the new band The Red Lineformed by former members of La Excavadora, Piperrak, Pura Posse, Tobogán…
From their first days in the Buenos Aires underground to becoming one of the most influential Argentine punk bands, Phlegm He built a story marked by lack of control, rawness and a unique connection with his audience. The group was born in the mid-80s from the union of Fernando Cordera, Juan Manuel Fandiño, Sebastián Corona and Pablo Sara—later replaced by Alejandro Boffelli, close to Ricky Espinosa—although it would be Ricky himself who would end up shaping the definitive identity of the band.
As the years went by and several lineup changes, Espinosa reorganized Phlegm along with the brothers Fernando and Santiago Rossi, as well as Pepe Carballo, Luichy Gribaldo and Gonzalo Díaz Colodrero. That alignment was what led the group to achieve notoriety within the Argentine punk scene. Their first performances began in bars, parties and small stages in the suburbs since 1986, where they quickly earned a reputation as chaotic as it was authentic. The death of Ricky Espinosa in 2002 marked a before and after for the band and for an entire generation of Argentine punk. Shortly after finishing recording “5 of cups“, the singer died in Avellaneda in an episode that was recorded in the history of Argentine rock. Even so, years later, several historical members decided to reunite to keep the group’s legacy alive.
In 2007, Phlegm It returned to celebrate two decades since its beginnings, and in 2012 it celebrated its 25 years with a special show at the Flores Theater, where former members of the band participated. That same year they released “Flema 25 años”, a compilation that reviewed their entire career. The band remained active during the following decade: in 2015 they released “We don’t give up”; In 2017 he celebrated his 30 years with a historic concert with the Avellaneda Municipal Symphony Orchestra at the Teatro Roma; and in 2018 he toured Mexico again before publishing, a year later, the live recording of that symphonic show.
Already in 2022, Phlegm He renewed his formation again with Fernando Rossi, Luis Gribaldo, Sergio Lencina, Bruno González and Miguel de Luna Campos, beginning an extensive national and international tour. Now, within the framework of the 40 years of its creation, the band returns to Europe two decades after its last visit, reaffirming the place it occupies as one of the fundamental names of Latin American punk.
