The elite withdraw from FIB; Sónar, challenged by its artists

Sónar is among the great Spanish festivals that have become part of the portfolio of the Supersruct Entertainment promoter, acquired by the Pro-Israelí Financial KKR, as a report of El Salto has revealed. Arenal Sound, Viña Rock or FIB are also among the festivals controlled by the American investment giant, among other internationals such as Field Day or Boiler Room.

The elite have communicated during today the cancellation of their concert confirmed in the FIB. The duo of Lleida has declared that “we will never actively participate in the spread of a genocide and much less with our money as a currency.”

After the publication of a statement that has been branded as “insufficient” by artists and activists, dozens of artists announced in the Sónar poster have signed a joint letter in which they communicate their rejection of participating in the festival, reports eldiario.es.

The letter, published by the artist Juliana Huxtable, is signed by artists such as Colin Self, Loraine James, Kode9 or Emotional Nina. His request is that Sónar “cut ties with KKR, adopt ethical programming and collaboration policies, respect the guidelines of the (Proporting Movement) BDS and compromises (to implement these changes) with all artists.”

They have directly canceled their participation in the Sónar and other groups such as Nexus (B4MBA & Mooki6), Manuka Honey or Animistic Beliefs, which, in a statement signed with Jeisson Dreth, Mаgdalena Petrova and Ratri Notosudajo, have asked that “stop the bleaching through art.” Sega Bodega has also canceled his performance at the Sónar alleging health reasons. The producer explains that, on the date of Sónar, he will be “recovering from surgery.”

As for the Viña Rock, artists such as Fermin Muguruza, Síckope, Reincidents or Porretas have promised not to participate again in the festival, which celebrated its latest edition in early May.
