Léa Sen is one of Virgin Music’s bets by 2025. Born in Paris and based in London, Léa Sen writes her own music since the age of 15 and, in recent years, a place has been made in the music industry appearing in An interesting single from Joy Orbison, the electronics ‘Better’, and on the second Sampha album, or calling Nilüfer Yanya.
The talents of Léa Sen and Yanya lend themselves to the easy comparison: both have vocal records that admit adjectives such as “velvety”, and both explore the textures of the electric guitar, as well as the melodies of the R&B and the blues, to immerse themselves in landscapes Lough, very personal.
It is the path pursued by Léa Sen in songs like ‘I Feel Like i’m Blue’, which could have written a Tirzah wanting to sound commercial, or ‘Brother’. In its two epés published, Parts 1 and 2 of ‘You of Now’, the precious voice of Léa Sen maintains its power even when the recordings, such as ‘Hyasynth’ or ‘Again’, are clouded or submerged into surrealism .
Léa’s language is perfected in his new single, ‘Lvl 1: Home Alone’, published this February 4. The recording begins on a lo-fi slope, but progressively adds piano and interesting organic textures and trip-hop. All this while the melody opens, diaphanous, like a flower, to a beautiful chorus that is again as coming from a dream.
Speaking of a “chronic reverie”, ‘Lvl 1: Home Alone’ is an “authentic declaration of intentions of a creative force that will soon be unstoppable,” in Virgin’s words. First advance of an debut album that can have a lot to tell.
