The Decemberists return with the country-pop ‘Burial Ground’

The Decemberists, authors of ‘The King Is Dead’ who had gone up to 6 years without releasing music, are back with their new single. And they don’t do it alone, as they are accompanied by James Mercer on their new single, ‘Burial Ground’.

The song unites country and pop to create a simple and even fun sound in the chorus. “‘Burial Ground’ follows the tradition of pop songs, a song about hanging out in cemeteries,” said lead vocalist Colin Meloy. «The hook of the melody came to me in a dream and I hummed it into my phone when I woke up. Most of the songs that come to mind in my dreams end up being bad; “This was the exception.”

James Mercer is invited on the song to provide backing vocals and accompany The Decemberists in what marks their musical return. This song is also the main single of the album that the group is already preparing. It will be the follow-up to their 2018 EP ‘Traveling On’.
