Yes, that’s Dennis Hopper on the cover of the Waterboys’ new album, written around the figure of the legendary American actor who died in 2010 and whose career spanned decades, from the time of James Dean to that of David Lynch through Warhol and beyond.
‘Life, Death and Dennis Hopper’, which comes out on April 4, is a concept album that narrates Hopper’s “arc of life” from his birth to his death, and his tribute to Dennis Hopper has been joined by guest artists from the like Bruce Springsteen and Fiona Apple, who appear in cuts 16 and 17, respectively.
The first preview of ‘Life, Death and Dennis Hopper’, Waterboys’ sixth album, can be heard this Friday. They, of course, are the authors of the album ‘Fisherman’s Blues’ (1988), the capital album of Anglo-Saxon folk-rock.
