On the song “Solitude Of The Night Bus,” frontman Liam Fray explains: “This came at a time of real questioning. Things weren’t going particularly well. We had no confidence and no direction. I think that’s why we came up with something so fun. This is the new us. I’d previously worked with Ola (Modupe-Ojo) on ‘Hanging Off Your Cloud’ and, just like then, there was an irresistible magic in the room. It’s a summer breeze. But it’s a winter night. Either way, sometimes you have to block out the noise. My late Uncle Pat loved to whistle, so it’s a kind of homage to him. Get on the bus; headphones on; go your own way. It’s the summer hit of an optimistic imposter syndrome.”
As for the video clip, it has been directed by Dom Foster and follows Liam on an overnight bus ride. “Pink Cactus Café” will give us the first new material from The Courteeners since “More. Again. Forever” of 2020.
The Courteeners are Liam Fray, Conan Moores, Michael Campbell with the members for the tours Joe Cross and Elina Lin.
