The Court knocks down the PP’s appeal and the eldiario.es festival will be held

The elDiario.es Festival of Ideas and Culture can finally be held this Friday and Saturday after the suspension that affected its organization has been lifted. The Administrative Court of Public Procurement of the Community of Madrid has rejected the appeal presented by the PP spokesperson in the Rivas-Vaciamadrid City Council, Janette Novo, considering it registered “out of time”, and has lifted the precautionary stay of the contracting procedure.

The uncertainty of the last 48 hours is thus behind us and the meeting can take place according to the planned schedule.

The fifth edition of the festival, integrated into the Ágora Rivas 2030 programming, is designed as a great cultural meeting with journalists, writers, musicians, comedians, live podcasts and activities open to the public for two days, June 26 and 27. Among the participating names are Bop Pop or Inés Hernand.

The Festival of Ideas and Culture, organized by elDiario.es together with the Rivas-Vaciamadrid City Council, had been suspended just two days before starting after the decision of the Administrative Court of Public Procurement of the Community of Madrid to provisionally paralyze the event by admitting an appeal presented by the spokesperson for the Popular Party in the municipality, Janette Novo, against the organization contract.

From the City Council they spoke of “political maneuver” and defended that the appeal arrived after the deadline and without legitimacy, as has finally been confirmed. Furthermore, they assured that the contract met all legal requirements and have asked to lift the suspension ipso facto.

The mayor, Aída Castillejo, from Izquierda Unida, was forceful in stating that they were not against a contract but against a city that thinks, debates and defends culture.
