The Chameleons publish a live performance in Barcelona from 1985

The British The Chameleons They are still active with their original members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies in front. Now, as part of a new release, they publish several songs from a live recorded in Barcelona in 1985.

After forty years of career, Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies continue to lead The Chameleons, one of the longest-running groups of British post-punk. In 2024 they published two new EPs with Metropolis Records, “Where Are You?” and “Tomorrow Remember Yesterday”and the direct “Return Of The Roughnecks. Live At The Ritz”in addition to turning with his “Strange Times Tour”.

Now they surprise us with the edition of live material that those from Manchester recover from the past. On the one hand, they recover the recording of the concert they gave in November 1984 at the London The Camden Palace and that it had only seen the light of day in visual format on VHS (1985) and on DVD (2012). It was a concert that was broadcast on television during the final moment of the tour “The Script Of The Bridge”.

But the news that will interest its Spanish fans the most is that the launch also includes four songs recorded live in 1985 at the Discoteca 666 room in Barcelona and which, at the time, was broadcast within the legendary television program “Arsenal”. The performance aired in January 1986. The songs featured are “Return Of The Roughnecks”, “Less Than Human”, “Splitting In Two” and “Here Today”.

The songs appear as an extra on the double album “Live At The Camden Palace”which the record company has just published Moochin’ About Records. The physical double vinyl edition is limited to two hundred copies including a Bonus CD and unreleased photographs. You can get it at this same link.
