The Swedish pop rock band The Cardigans is making a comeback thanks to the new release of their hit “Lovefool”, which is being used as the basis for many Tik Tok videos. But the news is that, on September 6, two compilations of the group’s rarities will be released.
““The Rest Of The Best’ Vol 1. & Vol 2” will reveal many different sides of the band led by Nina Persson, who achieved international fame thanks to hits such as the aforementioned “Lovefool”, but also with “My Favourite Game” or “Step On Me”. In total there will be thirty-five pieces that will be available on digital platforms from September 6 and in physical format (CD and vinyl).
Some of the material featured on these compilations had previously been released as B-sides to singles, bonus material on French or Japanese versions of their albums, and also on a compilation of outtakes. But now “The Rest Of The Best” It comes with a more comprehensive vocation, offering us discards, unpublished pieces, versions, etc.
The material is dated between 1993 and 2006. Among the thirty-five songs that we will find on both albums, we will find alternative versions of well-known songs by the group “Rise & Shine” or “You’re The Storm”, along with demos or versions of songs by bands such as Black Sabbath (“Iron Man”), Ozzy Osbourne (“Mr. Crowley”) or Thin Lizzy (“The Boys Are Back In Town”). In fact, this is how what had been years ago a compilation of unreleased material that had not been recovered until now is being reissued in physical format.
Let us remember that The Cardigans have sold more than fifteen million records worldwide, in addition to being part of soundtracks for films and series such as “Romeo and Juliet” by Baz Luhrmann, “Beverly Hills”, “The Office” and “The Crown”.
