Belinda, whom you remember for hits like ‘Ángel’ and, lately, for her appearance in ‘Las 12’ by Ana Mena and ‘La Niña de la Escuela’ by Lola Indigo, and Kenia OS, who you may know for hits like ‘Bad decisions’ or ‘Tommy & Pamela’ with Peso Pluma, they have joined forces on a joint single.
‘JACKPOT’ continues the pop trend of recovering a very specific dance style from the early 2000s. Specifically, Ibiza-type summer house. Oscar Görre, producer of Troye Sivan and Tove Styrke, signs – mainly him – a production that sounds very Kylie circa 2001. It is the Song of the Day.
Together, Belinda and Kenya re-imagine the dance sound of the 2000s, exuding sensuality. ‘JACKPOT’ is of course a sexual metaphor (“with you I won the jackpot” / “like cognac, you come down hot”) but it is also a pop fantasy, not least because of Belinda’s use of the word “intensive” or the meta-musical phrase of its chorus, that of the “kisses on repeat.”
The ‘JACKPOT’ proposal is completed with a video clip that is another fantasy for the eyes due to its futuristic, bubblegum and pink component.
