The Biggest Songs of 2024, So Far, According to Luminate

It’s already July, and that means it’s time to find out what the biggest songs of the year are so far. Luminate, the data system that tracks sales information for singles, albums and music videos, in collaboration with Billboard, has released a report that breaks down and analyzes the current music landscape based on sales, both physical and digital.

Early data indicates that streaming remains the most important means of music consumption. In fact, in the first half of the year, global streaming demand increased by 15.1% compared to the first half of 2023. However, thanks to albums such as those by Taylor Swift, Beyoncé or Billie Eilish, physical sales have also gained importance. The 10 best-selling albums of 2024 had an average of 7 different vinyl variants per title.

The list of the 10 biggest songs in the world in 2024, based on total on-demand streaming volume, is thus topped by Benson Boone’s ‘Beautiful Things’ with 1.434 billion streams. It reached No. 1 Global on Spotify and No. 2 on the Hot 100. Meanwhile, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is crowned the best-selling album of 2024.
