On the occasion of its 10 years of history, Apple Music has revealed the 500 most listened songs in the history of the platform, a curious decision since Apple Music, unlike Spotify, does not include public reproduction figures.
This playlist, called 10 Years of Apple Music: Top Songs, is headed by ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran and followed by ‘Binding Lights’ by The Weeknd, currently the most reproduced song in the history of Spotify. Interestingly, ‘As It was’ by Harry Styles does not appear on the Apple Music list until 75th place, when in Spotify it is the fifth topic that accumulates more reproductions.
Apple Music’s list, like Spotify, is widely dominated by men in their first positions, and includes only two women within the top 10, but only one is the main artist, Billie Eilish and his ‘Bad Guy’, which appears tenthly. Before, Kyla appears as a guest artist in ‘One Dance’ by Drake, who occupies the sixth place.
However, the female representation improves by expanding the look at the set of 500 songs. Although Drake leads with 39 themes, followed by Lil Baby with 20, several female artists stand out for their sustained presence: Taylor Swift adds 14 songs, Rihanna 13, Billie Eilish and Sza 10 each, Cardi B appears with 8, and Ariana Grande with 7. Other artists with the highest number of songs on the list with Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Post Malone, Malone Malone, Morgan Wallen.
One of the greatest curiosities of the Apple Music classification is starred by Chris Brown, who signs the ninth most reproduced song in the history of the platform, ‘No Guidance’ with Drake. This song does not appear on the Spotify list at all. Apple Music, naturally, is more popular in the United States than in the rest of the world, although in the United States Spotify continues to lead in number of users.
