What do you look like Teo Planell and ‘Wild Heart’ by David Lynch? According to planell himself, nothing. The young Madrid artist is about to end a cycle focused on claiming the community element that shares cinema and music. Nor is it difficult to see the unconditional love of Sailor and Lula in the accurate letters of ‘How to think badly’. It is the song of the day.
In recent months, Teo Planell has opted for a very simple concept. Unite cinema and music projecting some of his favorite films (‘Paris, Texas’, ‘The taste of cherries’, ‘La Notte’) and playing some of the songs on his next album, ‘Demian’, in free sessions, aimed at both fans and curious.
The objective is clear: to turn culture into an enriching community experience. There had always been a relationship between the song, usually played acousticly, and the film projected. However, in the last cycle held in Madrid, Planell clarified that there was no clear connection between ‘how to think badly’ and ‘wild heart’.
The last advance of ‘Demian’ is a minimalist and melancholic piece that could well have written the character of Nicolas Cage to Laura Dern while he is imprisoned during the first part of the film. “There was still so much to tell us / who is going to love me more,” Sings Planell. The structure of the song is circular, repeating three stanzas, but it is also a subtle crescendo. The high choirs in the second half of the subject confirmed this.
‘How to think badly’ is also the third single from ‘Demian’ after ‘you’re going to kill me’ and ‘radio’, more immediate than the latter. The first LP of Teo Planell, who is also the most recent guest of our VideoPodcast ‘Something changed …’, will be available on September 26. On the other hand, the last session of the film and music cycles of Teo Planell will take place on September 18 in Barcelona. The movie? ‘El Sur’ by Víctor Erice.
