Three years after “Nothing Lasts Forever”Teenage Fanclub have announced a new studio album titled “Do Not Dare To Dream”.
The Scottish band’s thirteenth album will be released on October 9 through Merge Records and a first preview, “Day In The Sun”, can already be heard, accompanied by a video clip directed by Donald Milne.
Recorded at Black Bay Studio, on the remote Scottish island of Great Bernera, the album maintains the combination of melodic guitars, vocal harmonies and bright pop that characterizes the group. On this occasion, Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley have once again worked together with Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald and Dave McGowan, letting a good part of the arrangements take shape during the recording sessions.
The title of the album comes from Blake’s reflection on imposed optimism. “Those ‘dare to dream’ messages are a bit ridiculous. I don’t think the world works like that,” explains the musician. McGinley, for his part, qualifies that idea by defending that “we can still be happy and optimistic even if things are not going well.”
Coinciding with the announcement, Teenage Fanclub has also confirmed a new tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland that will begin next November.
