Billboard is publishing another of his commented lists, this time classifying the most successful female artists of the 21st century according to their criteria. The list is based on the performance of these artists on the Billboard Hot 100 lists, which measures the success of the singles, and Billboard 200, which measures the success of the albums.
Taylor Swift, to the surprise and astonishment of the world, leads the list, followed by Rihanna in position 2 and Beyoncé in 3. Complete the Top 5 Adele and Katy Perry. They are out of Top 5, but they still appear within the Top 10, Lady Gaga in 6, P! NK in 7, Ariana Grande in 8, Miley Cyrus in 9 and Alicia Keys in 10. Excluded from Top 10 Mariah Carey (12) or Britney Spears (14). Billie Eilish, in 15th place, already surpasses veteran as Nicki Minaj (16).
Among the curiosities, Chappell Roan already appears in the 80th place ahead of Fleetwood Mac and behind Martina McBride, Sabrina Carpenter in the 50th ahead of Camila Cabello and behind the Pussycat Dolls and Charli XCX in 95 ahead of Sade and behind Toni Braxton.
The classification reviews the last 25 years of Billboard’s most popular music made by women, revealing, for example, that the success of Evanescence (39) has been greater than that of Demi Lovato (52), than the success of Jennifer Lopez (22) has been greater than that of Madonna (36) or that the success of Enya (60) has been greater than that of Ellie Goulding (62). There is no lack of the king’s wool in 71, Lorde in 44, Norah Jones in 31, Cardi B in 27 or Dua Lipa in 25.
