Taylor Swift is once again the leader of the nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards, which will be held on September 10 in New York. Swift, who was the big winner last year, has a total of 10 nominations this time, 7 of which are for the music video for ‘Fortnight’.
In the Video of the Year category, Swift is competing against Ariana Grande for ‘we can’t be friends (wait for your love)’, Billie Eilish for ‘Lunch’, Doja Cat for ‘Paint the Town Red’, Eminem for ‘Houdini’ and SZA for ‘Snooze’.
Charli XCX, who has released two of the best music videos of the year, is nominated in the technical categories, with ‘Von dutch’, which is up for Best Cinematography, and ‘360’, which is competing for Best Art Direction.
Chappell Roan is the overwhelming favorite in the Breakthrough Artist category, and it would be very unusual for her to lose her nomination to Benson Boone, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims and Tyla.
Other notable music videos from last year that received nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards include ‘Rush’ by Troye Sivan (Best Choreography), ‘Please Please Please’ by Sabrina Carpenter (Best Direction), ‘Boa’ by Megan Thee Stallion, ‘Get Him Back!’ by Olivia Rodrigo (Best Visual Effects) and ‘ROCKSTAR’ by Lisa (Best Art Direction).
