Taylor Swift manages to score her 6th number 1 in the United Kingdom this week with her new single, ‘Opalite’. It hasn’t been easy, since the song had already been on the market for a few months and in fact had been number 2 upon its release, only behind ‘The Fate of Ophelia’. To defeat ‘Raindance’ by Dave & Tems and the now classic ‘WHERE IS MY HUSBAND?’ of RAYE, Taylor Swift has had to arm herself with several editions of CD singles with remixes of the song, and vinyls.
The striking thing is that each edition of the CD only came with a single different remix, as you can see in the image. Not all the remixes came together as has been done forever, a sign that Taylor was going all out with this song, to add another number 1.
With this multi-edition alone it has managed to reach 47,509 copies. Of them, 5,900 were CD singles, 5,200 were 7″ vinyl and 1,000 were downloads. If it weren’t for the physical support of the multi-edition, it would have been exactly in the top 5, as you can see below:
01 47,509 Taylor Swift – Opalite (5,899 CDs, 5,219 vinyl, 1,064 downloads, 35,327 streaming)
02 43,027 Dave & Tems – Raindance
03 39,839 RAYE – WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!
04 37,736 Bad Bunny – DtMF
05 37,715 Sam Fender & Olivia Dean – Rein Me In
06 34,106 Olivia Dean – So Easy (To Fall in Love)
A look at the British charts leaves the news that Bad Bunny finally conquers this territory. It was the country that had resisted him the most, but after the Grammys and especially after the Super Bowl, ‘DtMF’ rises to the top 4, ‘Nuevayol’ to the top 15 and ‘Baile unforgettable’ to the top 20. The album is top 2 only behind Olivia Dean, assisted by the late vinyl edition.
